rwj, in a recent thread I quoted Heinlein as comparing communication to making love, in which the state of the partner (i.e., the person ostensibly hearing or reading your words) is as important to you as your own need to extrude those words. “Self-expression” as compared to successful, communicative speaking or writing, he compared to masturbation.
I’d say the majority of the board more or less agrees with the premises you seem to be attempting to put across. But if you’ve noticed a bunch of ridicule, it’s because you didn’t do a very effective job of communicating.

Wow, kam, I’ve never heard wingnut as a derogatory term for Asian here in Queensland or in NZ. Peter Jackson’s film company is Wingnut Productions and it’s definitely not a racist term there.

And over here in the USA, which is where I assume rwjefferson lives, it means (literally) a hardware nut with flaring wings, to make it easy to tighten or loosen by hand.
In the context of his post, it has the figurative meaning of “wacko, looney, crazy person”. Hence the occasionally-seen derogatory term “right-wingnuts” for people like Phred Phelps.
