I’m sure I just missed something in the licensing agreement or how Napster actually works…but I thought I’d ask here in case someone knows the answer off the top of their head.
Here is the issue…the songs I downloaded to my PC and then put on my Blackjack keep giving me the message that the license needs to be renewed (or something), and it won’t let me play the songs until I do this. Unfortunately I appearently can’t do this from the phone itself. So I have to keep going back to the PC to re-upload the things to the phone. Which is a pain in the ass.
What I dont get is…the songs on the PC don’t seem to be expiring or whatever…they all play fine even though I haven’t done anything to re-aquire the license (or whatever it is).
Additionally, whatever is expiring is doing so at a seemingly accelerated rate. When I first uploaded songs to the Blackjack they seemed to work for several weeks before I started getting this message. I just uploaded all the songs again (after deleting them from my phone’s library)…and 3 days later half the songs aren’t working again.
Anyone have any idea what I’m doing wrong? Can someone confirm that the license indeed needs to be continuously renewed? Anyone know how to renew the license from the phone itself…or do I need to do something on the PC?
I have no clue about what you’re talking about, but my suggestion to you is to use xxxx program to download songs. I’ve been using it for years with no problems and it’s free as the birds.
As far as I know, you don’t have to delete them and then re-upload them. You just have to connect your phone to your computer so that it can re-authorize them and make sure that your subscription is still current.
ETA: Of course, I’m a Rhapsody user - that’s how Rhapsody works. I have to assume that Napster would work similarly.
Not to play a mod but that link leaks to P2P software which while can be used to download legal to share music and programs it also can download music and programs that are not legal to share. I believe the powers that be here do not want us discussing P2P software.
It is legal to download copyrighted material with the permission of the creator. That is why there are Freeware programs which depending on the license are free to use use for home users only or home and business.
Example Krayola Records is a band who lets you download their music for free off their website at http://www.lecridelaharpe.com/krayola/ their music is released under the Creative Commons License which is copyrighted music but free to download and distrubite.
I believe what you meant to say was along the lines of
Downloading copyrighted material you do not have permission or rights to is still illegal in the US. Or am I misunderstanding what you’re saying?
