A PSA safety warning : Christmas Net Lighting and pets

Hi all.

Just experienced something that could be a real downer, particularly in the holiday season.

We have bushes in front of the house. On those we have those Christmas net lights. Drapped down the front to the ground and a bit on the top.

Well, I happened to be out front on the driveway putting together something Santa’s lazy helpers could be bothered to do. Here comes our cat to let me know he is protecting our yard and is on the job. He then goes to get in one of his hiding spots in the bushes.

Well, the net lighting is drapped across that spot. The holes are big enough that his head would go through but not quite his body. He got tangled in them. Fortunately he didn’t panic and I was right there to untangle him. But if I wasn’t there I could certainly see him getting more and more tangled, eventually panicking and eventually strangling or electrocuting himself.

So folks, if you put up net lights, it would be a good idea to put them where your pets or the neighborhood pets are not likely to try to go through. Or where toddlers might roam not closely supervised for that matter.

Happy and safe holidays folks!
