While watching a documentary about the American Civil War it was mentioned that men had their feet pinned together after death. I haven’t been able to find any direct reference to this on my own. Is this a remnant of the old practice of cutting off feet to impede a spirits ability to walk the earth or something more practical? Thanks, in advance, for your help.
I thought the cutting off feet thing was done to fit a tall person into a one-size-fits-all casket.
