why is it that drugs with proven fatal side effects, ie alcohol, tobacco are legal yet drugs that some might consider less harmful ie ecstasy(mdma), marijuana are illegal. in the cases of ecstasy and marijuana both have had medicinal uses. the report on ecstasy is that researchers “think” it causes short-term memory loss and depression. this doesn’t sound like much compared to the lung and liver damage caused by alcohol and cigarettes, not to mention drunk driving deaths. the legality of marijuana’s medicinal use is still being debated yet hundred’s of thousands claim it helps them cope with everyday life.

my bad. thanks for the info
Once upon a time, a teacher told me it had snowed in every state except Florida.
However, I watch the Weather Channel sometimes, and they seem to salivate over unusual weather phenomena, including a couple of times in Northern Florida, and I think one time I can remember snow falling in the Orlando area (although it may have been sleet).
With that, my teacher must have been wrong, and I was wondering, has it snowed everywhere, including south Florida?
I know it has snowed in San Diego, Phoenix, Tucson, Houston, New Orleans, etc., but I have never heard of it snowing in Miami. Has it ever happened? Or even Key West?
Whaaaat…?
oops. sorry about that.
Welcome to the SDMB, Morphiend This sort of thing belongs in the Great Debates forum. Usually, I’d move this thread over there, but since there is already a thread on the first page of GD in which this sort of thing is being discussed, I’ll close this one. I suggest you read the other one and post there. The drugs debate; The final revisitation
