Actually, I have done a lot of studying and what the Catholic church says and what the bible says usually go hand in hand. I don’t believe 100% of what the church says, but then I doubt most people believe everything about their faith, whatever it is. Anyway, you obviously sound like a Protestant and so I understand where you’re coming from. I don’t agree with you, but I understand you.
That’s my cue to do some shameless witnessing about how it’s not me, it’s the grace of God, but suffice it to say that if you have the hope, and it sounds like you do want to get something out of Mass, you will be inspired through your perseverance in trying. I know I went through a lot of ups and downs before getting to where I am now and am grateful for all of it.
