A question for women on the pill

I tried three pill brands before I found one that worked. One made me break out in zits and didn’t affect my PMS (which was bad, I was hoping for relief) and one made things dry up a lot down there which I didn’t like. My doctor showed me all the brands of pills (there are many!) and explained the differences in levels and types and dosages of hormones, and it became obvious that with so many choices there has to be one that will work for you.

Be fussy. Keep experimenting until you find one that really does everything you want it to (and nothing you don’t), it’s worth it. (Disclaimer: some women are allergic to estrogen and even with the estrogen-free pills, they still have trouble.)

FTR I ended up on Marvelon, after starting on Ortho 777 which apparently has the highest dosage of estrogen of all of them.

Add me to the list of people saying “Try another kind of birth control pill.” Demuelen made me weepy and depressed; Lo-Estrin worked, but was too low a does–I skipped every other month.

But Lo-Ovral was jussssssssst right. I’m regular, my moods are well within the normal range, and the Cramps From Hell are safely locked away.
