Who else here is on the pill?
I just started on Desogen, and I’m wondering if anyone has any side effects?
Ortho Tri-Cyclen over here. I’ve been on it for almost 10 years now.
No side effects that I can see. It’s pretty much made me like a clock, and shortened my periods. Both a plus, in my book!
Another Ortho Tri-Cyclen user here… for me, I started taking it for the side effects: namely the decrease in cramps. (Now, I rarely have 'em.) Regularity was a plus also: a bit hard to figure out when to schedule an appointment with the obgyn when I didn’t have a clue as to when my next period would be…
However, I have noticed that I now have a bit more in the way of ‘traditional’ PMS symptoms, namely mood swings and bloating. I’d rather deal with that though, than with KillerCrampsFromHell.

I am taking Trivora-28 and have been for about 3 months now. I switched from the Depo-Provera shot to prevent the vicious mood swings I was getting before, and the spotty periods. The only thing I don’t like is having to remember to take a pill around the same time every day, because my daily schedule isn’t consistant through the week and I can’t find a time when I’m always awake.

I am taking Mercilon, have only been on it 3 months and everything is ok so far.
Like ladyfox I was taking the Depo-Provera shot too but I had mood swings and the spotty periods too.
I have to set an alarm on my phone to remind me to take it everyday
I’ve been on Mircette for about 4 or 5 months now and am pretty happy with it. It’s designed to minimize the chance of migraines, which I have had problems with in the past. You’re only off the hormones completely for two days, then have a very low dose of estrogen for the next 5. It seems to be working pretty well so far, though I am noticing a bit of weight gain recently because I’ve slacked off my exercise.
Oh, and the way I remember to take my pill is I set the pack on my keyboard, since the computer is where I spend most of my time. I still forget occasionally, but it’s a pretty good reminder.
I’m on Triphasil-28 and have been taking that off and on for about 15 years (jeez, I hadn’t realized how long!) No side effects, no cramps, regular periods that are short and it’s been just fine for me. Given that I never had regular periods, always got monster cramps, and was a total bitch around my period, I love the pill and I ain’t going back–I’m sure that those who have to live with me would second that
Yet another Ortho Tri-Cyclen user here. I haven’t had any really noticeable side effects, except that I seem to have slightly MORE cramps than I did before. They’re not bad, but are definitely there. And, annoyingly because I hate those commercials, my skin HAS cleared up.
It’s only been 5 months, so I’m still pretty new to the whole thing, but I’m very very careful about taking them.
Vanilla Is Desogen the one with a steady hormone dose? I think it is. If so, I used to be on it–three years. I had NO sex drive–turns out it’s a side-effect. Just warning you ahead of time that it’s a possibility since I thought there was something horribly wrong with me–turned out it was the pill…
Now I’m on Tri-Cyclen and I’m back to normal

I’ve been on lots of different pills. I switched brands everytime I had a new health care provider. I’ve found that the side effects tend to subside after a few months. One time I switched brands and was nauseous every morning. It took me a long time to figure out that the pill was causing it.
I’m using Alesse, and really dig it. It’s a really low dose of hormones, so I’m not having issues with mood, weight gain, or nausea.
Has anyone considered using that new patch?
I was on Ortho-Novum 777 for about three years. The plusses: my skin cleared up, my periods got lighter and I had no menstrual pain. The bad news is that the weight gain I experienced was not the beautiful, voluptuous kind women naturally acquire; it was the bloaty, swollen kind that made me look like a flotation device. Plus, my hair became unmanageable, and I was depressed and cranky all the time.
I came to the conclusion that birth-control pills protected me from pregnancy by turning me into such a bitchy and unattractive psycho-hag, that no one would dare have sex with me.
Hey. The pills and my body didn’t get along. C’est la vie.
I was on Desogen twice - both times I had a pretty severe amount of depression that didn’t really subside with time. I switched to tri-cyclen, which was a lot better, but like brainychick I really was so miserable and bitchy that nobody would have wanted to sleep with me anyhow.
I gave up entirely on the pill - and I’m actually considering getting an IUD.
Hmmm, well theres 21 active pills and 7 green ones with no stuff in em.
I don’t plan on taking them, because I can count 7 days and whats the point of taking nonactvie pills?
I worry about your depression sdie effects.
I was on Ortho7 once and had no side effects.
