A question only for people in states where pot is legal

On January first Illinois will join the list and edibles intrigue me. How much can I expect to pay for THC gummies?

And mod, “lot” should be “pot.” Blasted auto correct !.

A lot of pot? See www.weedmaps.com for dispensaries, deliverers, products, and prices almost everywhere. Check your taxes. Some states impose extra taxes for cannabinoids. Enjoy!

PS: I didn’t mention prices because they’ve varied widely in the states I’ve shopped. The link will help you.

In CA the chocolate bars are about $20 for 100 milligrams of THC. That’s about five doses for me.

Once you introduce legal markets, you get typical retail promotions like discounts, too, so ask around.

I don’t purchase edibles, but based on my observations when visiting dispensaries, a typical price is probably in the $20-$50 range.

Why would any sensible auto-correct change “pot” to “lot”?

It’s Android

Do the dispensaries sell seeds for home grown? I think that is going to be legal for individual use here.

Auto correct can be ducking stupid.

Wow, that’s cheap. I have to pay about twice that here in NV for the same 100mg chocolate. I eat half the dose you do, tho. IIRC It’s cheaper if you have a medical card.

I warmly recommend baking some coockies yourself. So you will know exactly how much you are ingesting. And it is fun, specially with friends. I can provide recipes, but they are all over the internet. Start with a low dose, be patient until the effect sets in (this can take a while and be so gradual that you at first don’t notice) and increase the dose gradually from one day to the next until you find your sweet spot (pun only half intended). Enjoy!

Illinois will have both medical and recreational, IIRC. Looking into medical might be worthwhile, if, like in PA, med users are not taxed.

If you are looking to save $$, purchasing RSO and eating it added to a cookie is the way to go.

Do they not have anything smaller and cheaper (like maybe a 20mg bar for $5)? Doses start at 5mg and some people are visiting from out of state so they can’t take it home with them.

I can afford $20 but I’d have to throw most of the bar away since I can’t keep it. Seems wasteful for tourists only in town a day or two.

Last year I found myself in the TSA line at the airport when my gf reminded me about the brownies. I had two 50 mg brownies in my pocket and the line was moving pretty fast. I hurriedly at my brownie, then handed the other to her. She wimped out and told me to throw hers out. Instead, I ate it.

Interesting experience. The plane was at 30,000 feet but I was much higher. So, yeah, don’t waste any!

I’d be a paranoid, anxious mess at a dose that high.

Different strokes. I had an ear-to-ear grin on my face the entire time, according to my gf who enjoyed my situation as much as I did. During our short layover in Charlotte, she bought me a Bloody Mary and told me not to move from my seat while she ran to the bathroom. When she returned, she found that I literally had not moved.

Big Judeo-Christian has greased thousands of palms to ensure that lot is legal everywhere.

Fixed

It’s pretty easy to blame auto-correct when you’ve rat-ringered what you meant to type.

Here in Oregon it’s much more likely to find clones to grow to maturity and that’s the way you want to go. An inexperienced grower doesn’t know how to sex a young plant and can spend a lot of time and effort lovingly nurturing a male plant that has not a damned thing to offer. Additionally, growing from seed does not guarantee a good result due to phenotypes–the seeds of a given cross will have the same genetics as full siblings do, and my best advice about THAT is to go look at Ron and Clint Howard, who have the same parents but man, you don’t want to go in expecting a Ron plant and getting a Clint, just sayin’.

A clone is an exact genetic copy of a proven strain and phenotype which will give you guaranteed results and so long as you don’t stress it in the growing will be guaranteed to be female and not spew pollen all over the place, which ruins the fuck outta your nugs.

What I’ve heard is that supply is initially going to be quite low in IL, so I expect prices to be silly-high at first. It’s a big market though—I think prices should drop pretty quick. I think a useful point of reference here is the black market prices—I think it’s almost certain that prices at legal dispensaries will start well above those. A friend of a friend tells me that 200 mg of gummies (20 x 10 mg) is currently available for $40.

My understanding is that growing at home will remain illegal here, due to pressure from police organizations and a desire to get the law passed as quickly as possible.

My understanding is that it will illegal to grow at home for recreation use, but those with a medical marijuana card will be able to grow their own.
