Why does every thread about performance, board version, or any other administrative gripe get closed? Seriously, look at threads on this forum in the last 7 days. If you visit those threads (which is tricky, because only the last 2 days are normally displayed), what you won’t see are many posts that simply got deleted.
Why the hell do you insist on this authoritarian bullshit of silencing everyone who has anything to say about this board or how it’s run? You do this even with threads that aren’t profane or flame-like, often just to shut people up before they start talking. Or you do this in the Pit, where people have every right to flame.
TubaDiva likes to maintain a clean forum. A lot of threads asking about something specific and/or are test threads usually get closed. If you were to look further back in the history of ATMB, you’d see a lot of locked threads. It is just the nature of the forum. The fact that most of them are about the administration right now is unfortunate coincidence.
Also, many of those threads appear to be magnets for banned members signing up under a new name and other sock puppets who have an axe to grind with the administration. The posts of socks are routinely deleted.
Once a question is answered in ATMB, there is usually little reason to keep it open, particularly when it starts bringing in the problem children.
Check out the BBQ Pit for threads complaining about the boards that are allowed to go on for pages and pages. And check into the Pit threads about the banner ads and Ed’s response in this forum to show that the administration does sometimes listen to complaints members make.
Bad timing. The OP would be more convincing if there weren’t currently 35,000 threads about the banner ads still open on the front pages of the various fourms.
For the record, I PM’d BBQ Pit moderator and specifically requested to have that thread closed. It was a lame criticism of Skip’s moderating and I had a change of heart shortly after opening it.
The reasons for those threads being closed are explained by the mods who closed them in (or near) the last posts. The first one is because the OP requested it, and the thread was a damp squib anyway, the other two were closed because the OPs were suspended and would be unable to respond. Pretty standard stuff.
You said “every thread about about performance, board version, or any other administrative gripe”. Why the exception for banner ad threads?
I thought we weren’t talking about banner ad threads? And in any case, the ones were closed because they replicated other threads already going, a justifiable reason.
Closed at the request of the OP.
closed because the OP was suspended.
closed because the OP was suspended. Seriously, you can scroll to the bottom of all of these threads and see why they were closed. It’s pretty obviously not some attempt to censor complaints or comments about the board, especially obvious since most of those threads were allowed to go to several pages before being closed.
In anycase, I think its pretty evident there’s no attempt to censor threads related to the administration of the board. Scroll through the pit and you’ll find dozens of unclosed board critical threads within the first few pages.
It’s crap like this that ruins it for people asking legitimate questions and expressing legitimate concerns. After a few threads like these, **Tuba ** becomes jaded, and it is almost understandable why she snarks and growls when someone asks why the board is slow today or whatever.
