Me/my friends call guys who hang around with lesbians “dyke mikes”… I don’t think this refers to guys who marry lesbians.
In this country, to get youth allowance (social security for if you’re under 25) you have to be independent from your parents, and the main way you get this (if you’re a uni student and unable to earn over $14,000 in 18 months) is by being in a marriage/de facto relationship… but they don’t recognise same-sex relationships. For that reason, a lot of gay guys I know married dykes I know so that they’d get eligibility for youth allowance so they could move out of home, away from their less-than-supportive parents. Those were usually referred to as “Austudy Marriages” (because Youth Allowance for students used to be called Austudy).
