If you really think I am lying about this, making up stories on a discussion board for a bunch of total strangers in order to make myself look a certain way, that’s on you. I told that part just now because I hadn’t remembered to before, given all the other conversations that had been taking place.
Of course. But in this case, the goal appears to be compliance with a set of rules to which society has already bestowed their collective imprimatur. The OP was, in other words, presumably fighting the man, but not The Man, if you take my distinction.
I wasn’t even going to respond to this because I saw this as a thinly-veiled insult.
Am I the only one who gets the feeling that jamiemcgarry is typing his posts in the same mindset as when he bullied the other motorists?
I dig it man/Man.
Though, society may still balk no matter what about parking lot vigilantism no matter how slow and thorough “the plan”, even though society considers handicapped spots as part of the rules of society.
One of the most valuable lessons my father taught was was:
If you’re ever in doubt if you’re being complimented or insulted assume it’s a compliment. If you’re right, everything is as it should be. If you’re wrong the insulter is just going to get more pissed off and you look gracious and polite.
I am a bully, but someone else doing it for the exact same reasons is “simply sticking up for his disabled sister”. ?!Bully?! Walk me through that assertion, please…
I thought you were wheelchair bound.
Fuckin’ good one huh?
I prefer “wheelchair-user”
So it’s okay to be a bully if you’re disabled? Gotcha.
What? I didn’t agree with the assertion that I WAS a bully, so I asked the person making the claim to “walk me through the assertion being made” that I was indeed a bully…I don’t understand your reply at all.
I’m glad you took that in spirit it was intended.
It’s all good man. I’m handicapped too – when I see some jackoff parking in handicapp spot I tell em’ I’m going to beat the shit out of them with my cane. Some day I’ll be able to say with my peg leg.
Outside of the SDMB, we might be in the minority though. At the very least there is a very old tradition starting with Socrates that unjust laws passed by democratic institutions should be obeyed.

Page 7 is a little late for this but…
Did the guy park in the Handicapped space and leave his car? If not, he wasn’t really parking, he was standing his car. Which is something different.
Now AFAIK I can’t recall ever standing my car in a handicapped space (more due to fear of fines than anything else). But, um, what’s wrong with it? If somebody needs the space, you just pull away. In many jurisdictions, standing by a fire hydrant is legal (though leaving your car in front of a hydrant is a major no-no, backed by fines). IANAL and check your local jurisdiction.
Well, if a fire truck appears, * they* will know that a car is not where it is suppose to be, as will the driver who is parked next to the hydrant. But if somebody is standing their car in a handicapped space, it won’t immediately be clear whether they are able-bodied or not. And the handicapped person looking for a space won’t be as obvious as a fire truck either.
Jeez MfM, what’s wrong with you?
Walk me through were I ever said that.
Since I didn’t, you may now pull your head out of your ass and, perhaps for the first time in your life, act like an adult by apologizing. Next you can attempt to comprehend the simple concepts of “vigilantism is wrong” and “vigilantes are bullies.”
“Am I the only one who gets the feeling that jamiemcgarry is typing his posts in the same mindset as when he bullied the other motorists?”
Ok, you didn’t call me a bully, you said I bullied. If you want to get in a semantic bickering match, whatever. Why would I need to apologize? And where do you get the plural “motorists” from? There has only ever been one driver. And please, now that we have the pesky semantics out of the way, walk me through specifically how I was bullying the driver in the HHFC story.
And MY point in bringing this thread back with the contexual story of a fellow member engaging in the exact same actions for the exact same reason was NOT to make the case for my actions legitimacy. It was to show that HHFC exhibited double standards when it came to enforcing their policies. The reasons given for terminating my membership were only and exactly the actions committed by other members. No previous incidents, no anything. So please sir, my head never was in my ass. But I can twist around for ya so you can kiss it if you’d like.
He can walk, it’s a miracle!
mcgarry: You’re an absolute moron. Where did I say anything, anything at all about someone and their sister?
Of course I did mention your bullying.
Now that is genuine class. In an argument with a paraplegic link to Aerosmith’s Walk This Way video.
