A request for Dolores Reborn

Love the Family Feud threads but some of them get closed out within a matter of hours. Would it be possible to scrap the fifty person limit and just go to something like a forty eight hour limit? That way we wouldn’t have to guess whether or not we were getting in on time.

Seconded, although I assume that the more entrants, the more work. I certainly understand the 50-person limit, but I’m always disappointed when I miss a feud…

Joe

thirded…I’ve missed the last 4 or 5 i think

It is an excel chart that scores the feud that limits the players to 50. She didn’t make the chart, that was done by the great Mullinator.
I think if Deloras simply made a copy of the chart and put the first 50 in one and the second 50 in the next, she should be able to put the results together and still list the winners.
Scoring is a major PITA even with the scoreing chart. We all need to buy her a drink at the next dopefest she attends.

Little Nemo, I haven’t been able to work the scoring tool that Mullinator made - but without it manually scoring a feud is hugely time-intensive. I ran two feuds myself, and each time, it took about four hours to collect the various answers, determine point values, and then collate the scores. Most people who have used Mullinator’s tool found it useful, but still scoring a feud is a daunting task.

I can understand the frustration of not being able to get into a given feud. (I missed Thursday’s, myself.) But, if the tool that Dolores is using is limited, we’re stuck unless someone far more familiar with making macros for Excel than I can tweak the tool to accept more players. (If you want to write/adapt the macro that Mullinator wrote I can email it to you.) And even then, knowing the work that the tool still leaves for the person running the feud, I couldn’t begin to assume that Dolores would want to use it.

I’m in complete agreement with Zebra, when he said: “We all need to buy her a drink at the next dopefest she attends.”

What OtakuLoki said; plus, Dolores has been gracious enough to run one dang Feud after another, bless her heart. It’s like streetcars, Blanche. There’s always another one coming.

That is the problem. Doing just an “easy” 50 person Feud can take a couple of hours, depending on the quantity of answers to sort through. Plus all the spelling varaitions, my lack of knowledge on a certain subject that I might have to research, people who don’t post the answers in the correct format. I have to edit all the answers to read exactly the same, so the spreadsheet will work correctly. It takes time!

I’m keeping it at 50. Also, I mostly do these at work (don’t tell my boss!) because we only have one computer at home and my husband doesn’t have access at work. He needs his 'puter time, too!

I appreciate your frustration, though. You guys fill it up in only 2-3 hours! It’s amazing. I’ll post some late in the day next week, so maybe the after work crowd might be able to get in. Or if this one gets done quickly, I’ll do another this weekend.

I really like doing them, and I’m not complaining at all! (My preferred drink of choice is Jim Beam and Diet Coke. ;))
