Cousin, not friend, assuming any of that was true, and the implication was that they trained together. If so, I’d be less surprised Rodriguez trusted his word. And what’s a “3rd world friend?” You know Rodriguez was born in the Dominican, right?
Agreed on the second part. As for knowing what they’re taking… I can’t believe Barry Bonds thought designer steroids were flaxseed oil, but I can believe Alex Rodriguez didn’t know exactly what he was taking here. He knew it was against the rules and he knew what it was supposed to do for him, that’s what mattered. It’s not like he went home and built a model of its chemical structure.
Actually I would think you could get pretty good medical advice from people in the US. He is rich and can afford the best. He does not have to believe or accept something suggested by a cousin . He has access to the best labs in the world , right here.
You do not just take something a friend of a cousin suggested. You don’t if you have better options. he has better options. It is not about a foreigner at all.
The story does not ring true.
He certainly can. Of course, most of those people may not want to prescribe drugs illegally, which is how the Brian McNamees and Kurt Radomskis of the world get involved.
If anything you might be giving this guy too much credit for his intelligence. And I don’t know for sure what happened either. It’s a self-serving story and there isn’t much of it I would take as gospel. I do think it’s possible he’d take something on the advice of a cousin, but he wouldn’t name the guy - so yes, it’s just as possible “my cousin” was a person Rodriguez knew was a steroid dealer or something.
We’re talking about a man who controls his daily caloric intake to the nth degree. It’s highly disingenuous to suggest he allowed a non-physician to shoot him up with something and didn’t find out what it was first.
I think unlike Giants Fans that never stopped cheering for Bonds, Yankee fans will be mixed. There will be those who do cheer, those who don’t and of course those that boo him. I never booed him and I have cheered for him when he did something to good or to win the game. I still will not boo him and now I probably won’t cheer either. I imagine the number of 13s in the stadium will decrease. Despite all the talk of the fan never embracing him, I saw more 13s then any active numbers but 2 and 42. (Jeter & Mo) Though maybe less than the 3s, 4s, 5s & 7s. (Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle)
Fan reaction to Giambi was fairly mixed. I think it helped that he partially admited to it and it will help A-Rod somewhat to.
I am not buying A-Rod’s story. I would like to know the full truth. I would also like to see all the names on that damn list released. I would also like someone to give me a 67’ SS Camaro and I would like Baseball to be clean and the Yankees to rattle off another 5 straight World Series victories.
I have known some serious athletes in my time. Even the ones who are not bright could give you a lecture on the interplay of different drugs on the body. How they work, how they counter or help other drugs and what is believed to be long term effects. I have always been surprised to see how much they know. But then ask anybody about what they do for a living and their knowledge is great.I do not believe these guys are one step away from retarded. I do not believe they get talked into things like children. The league gives them lectures every spring training. They know what they are dealing with. Once caught ,they come up with absurd unprovable stories. Just like a crook the cops catch and he says he found the loot on the street and a guy he never met gave him the gun.
Good for her age but not good overall. A-Rod is a ridiculously wealthy 34 year old with a wife that was/is hotter. He could and should in theory be able to hook up with someone better looking and with far less baggage if he was going to cheat on his wife.
BTW: One more example of him being a dirtbag and somewhat stupid at the same time.
