Oh, I hate this. I’m so sorry for your loss. I often hope that I die before my bestie, because I really don’t know how I could possibly live without her if she goes first. They are the people that move into your heart and never leave, if you’re lucky enough to have one.

I am very sorry for your loss. I don’t know if this will mean anything or not, but my best friend died in my arms in May. He’d had a stroke in the bathroom; when I found him, we carried him out to the couch and started CPR until the ambulance came, but he died as they worked on him.
Even though he was right here when it happened, I feel kind of the same way. I had no time to prepare for his death, and thinking of him lying alone on the floor of the bathroom makes me very, very sad.
His heart was fibrillating when we laid him on the couch, so maybe he was still alive enough to hear the things I said to him then. I sure hope so.

If it’s any comfort, hearing is the last sense to go. So, he likely did hear you. Nevertheless, It’s a terrible loss. I’m sorry you had to face that.
