When I woke up during The Turning Point I laughed because I couldn’t believe the movie was still going on. Icy stares were my reward.
That is not a sad movie. And crying is only allowed during one scene.
The Color Purple has some funny moments but is otherwise not a very laughy movie.
Unless you, like I, saw it in a theater whose front row was occupied by a blind man and his seeing-eye dog. And the man periodically leaned over and put his head next to the dog’s head. And you come the conclusion, as I did, that the dog was telling him what was happening.
Then it’s hilarious!
There’s a gag in The Naked Gun where Frank Drebin and his girlfriend are walking out of a movie theater laughing. The camera then pans up to the marquee of the theater…Platoon.
Now I’m hungry for a hot dog.
