A scam I haven't heard before...

I had to flip a coin, MPSIMS or The Pit, on this, and MPSIMS won. It’s long on  and short on &%@#…

VWife called me at work to report a SPAM mailing she got this morning. Some company offered us a deal to hold the title to our real estate in their name on our behalf to avoid our losing it in foreclosure. :dubious:

Lessee, what’s wrong with this…?..

  1. Perpetrating a fraud on a bankruptcy court
  2. The mortgage company holds the title, so I couldn’t send it to them anyway (and I’m current)
  3. If the property is titled in their name, then it ain’t mine legally, and I don’t control it
  4. I don’t want to have to rent the property I bought.
  5. If I was in danger of foreclosure, it’d be on the market anyway, so I could try to cash in any equity I have before the sheriff comes to kick me out…

It would be so tempting to reply to them with a long string of expletives intermixed with “I didn’t fall off the turnip truck yesterday”, but I don’t want the bastiges to know they hit a good address, so I’ll settle for  :dubious:  :dubious:  :dubious:  :dubious:  :dubious:  :dubious:  :dubious:  :dubious:  :dubious:  :dubious:, and lambasting them here.

Have at it, fellow Dopers.

I just heared that UK interest rates are set to rise to 8%. Sounds like I might be in need of their services.
Could you send me a link?

That’s an interesting new twist!!

Are you in the US? If so, I’d strongly suggest you report this to the post office as an attempt at using the mails to commit fraud.

If you’re in another country, there may be similar reporting opportunities, I just don’t know them.
