A Scary Thought about Death and Dying

It can’t be any worse than it was before you existed, can it? The thought of fizzling out like a candle in a vast expanse of space is a bit of a downer though. Out of all the dualities we can envision, life and death may be the only one we’ll never get a handle on.

I cannot recommend highly enough that you read, “The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying”.

The Tibetan’s tend to believe that those moments as you are dying, (a much wider threshold than we imagine), will determine your next life. Will you face those moments with fear or grasping, or anger or confusion, or any other of a multitude of negative emotions? Or, will your heart be open, your mind able to focus on compassion and lovingkindness, without fear or anger or bitterness. If so, it’s said, you will rise to the next level of consciousness and not be born again into our physical world of unfulfilled desires, for yet another turn of the wheel.
