OK, get out your pencils, write this down, keep it on your hard drive:
Shrine Children’s Hospitals (In the US and Canada)
800-237-5055
Treatment is cutting edge, they specialize in burn treatment and othopedic problems. There is not means test, religious test or “are you the child of a Mason” test. Treatment is always free. Transportation to and from treatment is free.
Keep this number in the event you ever know a child in need.
IIRC -Shiners are the highest degree of Freemason. A Mason rise through the ranks until they’ve proven throgh years of good behavior and charitable work that they are ready to receive their fez and personal tiny car.
Well, to be a Shriner you must complete the first three degrees of Masonry then the degrees of the Scotish or York Rites (that is the next 32 degrees) and then you can join the Shrine.
The Shrine is a fun club for Masons. Their charity is the largest in North America. Think of that the next time someone bad-mouths the Masons.
Bumping (or my fumble-fingered case) double-bumping move the thread to the top of the list, giving it more exposure to folks who only read the first few threads.
As for why I did it, well, gee it seems worht it if only person out there ever remembers the Shrine Hospitals when they run into a child in need.
Now I will let this thread drift to the bottom of the pile.
