“Fifteen” popped into my head, just now, but I’m a few years away from having read it.

It really puts a different perspective on the story - in the movie Alex is played by an actor who was 29 at the time. If you think of everything he did being done by a 15 year old, it’s that much more chilling.
Naming frailty aside, it is a great series, and I’m personally looking forward to the upcoming release of Thief IV: Stealing and Reselling Unattended Valuables.
I’m fairly certain that this is quite intentional, given the codenames for the super innaboxed secret agents (Naked Snake, Solid Snake, and Liquid Snake).
