A serious case of the not seeing what's in front of me.

I have just now found what I searched high and low and to the ends of the earth for yesterday.

I found it by accident because it’s right. There. In. Front. Row. Center. Of. My. Frickin. Eyes!

I even remember saying to myself (yesterday) - “Am I not seeing it because of how prominent, how in full view it is”, how RIGHT THERE, THERE IT IS, THERE!!

I also slowly and carefully read the title of every.single. book. I. could. see. to see if one of them was it!.

The thing in question is the 5th Harry Potter book, The Order of the Phoenix. I guess it was yesterday somewhere else via apparition, or it posesses an invisibility cloak, or I’m just a buffoon and looked everywhere but the book-shaped void in front of me.

Hehe. I’ve had that happen to me - in my case, the inner dialogue goes like this:

“Ok, I’m sure it was on this shelf… I’ll look at each and every spine in turn…<reads a few spines>…OK, I’ll skip that one because I looked at that already the first time I searched…”

(and of course the one I keep skipping because I know it isn’t the one I’m looking for… IS the one I’m looking for)

I do that all the time. “That can’t be it, it’s greeeen, I know it’s green, that CD/book/towel/etc. is green!”

So I skip over.

And it’s blue. Or sitting right next to a green thing.

Feh.

Here is an image of the book and surrounding shelves… on it’s side because on a pda photobucket won’t let me rotate.

Hah. That’s because you put my wooden cloaking device on the book.

Thought you might notice that
As soon as I got it I recognised it as one of the things my nieces got from the manx folk village at creagneish.

As I understand it you can only make long tubes with it (that’s what my nieces did) Is that right?

Yes, but you can then sew the tubes into spirals to make hats, tea-cosies and other useless items.

Heh…sorta looks like a bible. Sweet.

BTW: Did the English religious loonies have as big a problem with HP as the 'Merkin religious loonies?
