A serious question for Sam Stone on Factual Errors

And yet, here you are… again. So, clearly you don’t have better things to do.
Also, stop stealing half of Starving Artist’s shtick.

When (if) you finally master that skill, come on back.

Just tell him a liberal is trying to steal it.

For many conservatives now, ‘woke = whatever I hate’

Really, Sam, when me and many others see someone using “woke”, it is nowadays a good way to know how deep that one is drinking from the well of bad sources.

Related to what the right wing is doing to education in the US, there was this:

And yes, a lot of the rhetoric from the right wing does involve ignorant accusations about libraries and schools being “woke” (In this link to the right wing World Nut Net Daily the push poll declares “Should taxpayer-funded “woke” libraries be defunded by taxpayers?”)

It is just like the CRT accusations, never mind that woke was a term originally used by the black community, the same hatred used to turn that word into a slur against any group helping minorities is what is being used now by the right wing to push many into doing hateful things to the LGBTQ community and to education too…

IMO, anyone using the term “woke” as an insult in a non ironic way, immediately reveals themselves as a simpleton and fuckwit. It’s actually quite useful that way.

When come back, bring paint?

Ceci n’est pas une pipe tarte

Based on this post in the Durham investigations in P&E, I have a question for Sam:

Are you going to admit you were wrong? That, perhaps, your assertions about the Big Bad Deep State and their collusion with the Hillary Campaign were based more upon rumor and innuendo than hard fact? Durham is, by all accounts, an experienced and capable prosecutor. The only indictment he was able to bring to court, the one against Sussman, ended in an acquittal. The case against the Russian, Danchenko, looks even less likely to end in conviction.

A man of integrity would state at this point that perhaps he was mistaken in his beliefs.

If you follow that thread not only did he not admit he was wrong, he somehow became more ignorant as the facts were revealed. It’s a sight to behold.

Honest question: Is Sam genuinely unable to see that he’s been wrong about these things, or does he suffer from the delusion that admitting he was wrong would somehow subject him to more derision and put him in a weaker position for future battles of wit than everyone knowing he’s easily duped and unwilling to admit to being wrong?

Oh, it definitely is, but that was a “Just wait till you see what else Durham has up his sleeve!” feint. Now that Durham is showing empty pockets (pardon the mixed clothing metaphor) I was just asking if Sam had a come-to-Jeebus-and-have-a-V8 moment.

So I still believe in the Great Pumpkin. Sue me.

“And what happened, then? Well, on the SDMB they say – that Sam’s small brain grew three sizes that day. And then – the true meaning of facts came through, and Sam found the intelligence of ten Sams, plus two!”

Does rubbing the dog’s nose in their own shit actually work?

More than petting and encouraging them does. That just makes them do it more.

See OP. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It does not. That just teaches dogs that people are weird. What you do is just clean it up like it never happened. Then, the next time they poop outside like a good dog, you reward them.
I suspect you knew this.

I mean: What I wrote was obviously quite different! And who can remember what happened in December of last year anyway!

Yes, indeed.

I’m just trying to figure out the rules here. Does being wrong on the SDMB require a pit thread where the person who was wrong on the internet comes in and begs forgiveness from his betters?

It seems that way, so I guess I should start a pit thread for every person on here who said inflation wouldn’t be a problem or was ‘transitory’. Then I can start threads for those who said at the start of the Mueller investigation that Trump was going to go to jail pver Russiagate and who treated every leak like it was the Sword of Damocles coming down on Trump.

While I’m at it, I guess I should start a thread for those who claimed the Hunter Biden Laptop was Russian disinformation, and for pitting me because I said that while some of the information on it might be, lots of it clearly wasn’t.

Then if I still have time I can start one for the people who posted over a thousand fucking comments declaring exactly what Trump had done wrong and what documents he had at Mar-A-Lago before any information about any documents was released. And extra mea culpas can be issued by those claiming that he was likely to face the death penalty.

Actually, I won’t do any of those things, because I’m not an asshole like the mean girls of the pit who live to attack the fellow dopers they don’t like. We all spitball on this board and go out on limbs with ideas and conjecture all the time. Apprently only some of us have to beg forgiveness when we are wrong.

Well, fuck you.

Now, once the Durham investigation is actually closed we can go and look at what was and wasn’t found, just as we can when the current investigation into Trump is over. I have no trouble admitting that I am wrong when I am, especially over something speculative like what might happen in an ongoing investigation. But I won’t do it in the Pit, because I’m not a whiny little baby out to get my pound of flesh from people not like me who might have been wrong about something.

Oh, and for the record - I hope Trump is guilty of enough that he can never run for office again. Just to forestall the inevitable ‘Maga’ attacks.

He’s probably clean on that one.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
