Sam Stone - Why do you hate America?

Seriously - Why do you hate America? You’re a Canadian with no dog in the fight yet rant like you fear Hussein’s secret muslim storm troopers are going to kick in your door, hyperinflate your savings and start waterboarding the moment you land in Guantanamo. This ain’t about infringing your right to airing an opinion (asinine or otherwise) but you’re so *serious *about politics in a country you don’t even live in.

It is getting really tiresome with you posting some patently obvious partisan politics blog-o-sphere drivel, and then trying to spin it into some kind of factual debate. You get called on the obvious bullshit and then run away like a bully that got pasted on the playground.

Makes me wonder if you’re on Rove’s or the Koch Brothers payroll? You certainly have the IBM playbook down - always cast doubt on the competition. In your case, it’s usually a pretty heavy dose of slanted smear.

It was also embarrassing when you were Sarah Palins greatest fan during the elections.

Please correct me if I’m mistaken, but I don’t remember you starting any posts on the need to rein in spending during the Bush Administration, nor calling bullshit on making the Iraq war an off-balance sheet adventure.

One final thing. Stop referring to Paul Krugman as the “liberal economist.” That’s Dr. Krugman to you, and he happens to have a Nobel Prize for Economics. He can refer to himself as a “liberal” but you change it to “liberal economist” as a cheap tactic.

You’re actually a reasonably interesting poster and debater when you turn off the partisanship. That’s all.

Agreed, especially the last line.

Prolly my favorite part of Sam’s schtick is how he will continually make claims and post links to cites that don’t actually say what Sam says they say.

To Sam, that’s a timeless classic that will never go out of style.

There is no chance, none whatsoever, that this is factually true. What I mostly remember is Sam defending her against attacks, somewhat half-heartedly, like a doting uncle defending a “special” child. He would rail against attacks on her, but so far as I recall, never actually said she would be a good VP or, Goddess forfend, a President.

He’s a Warren Zevon fan. Gotta have brains to be a Warren Zevon fan. Case closed.

I think the “Kittens Love Porn” link supported your position very well.

Seconded.

Lately, Sam has been more like Shodan than xtisme.

I don’t think it’s possible for any human on Earth to not have a dog in the fight when it comes to American politics, at least on the national level.

This is doubly true for Canadians and Mexicans.

By GOD! Saddam’s nuclear weapons program really was moved lock stock and barrel to Syria moments before the invasion!
Bush was so FUCKING RIGHT abobout Everything!!!@

He’s mentioned before he’s from Alberta, which is the home of American style conservatism here in Canada, and some people in Alberta would prefer that we were more like USA - if not join them instead of being in the same country with all the lefties from BC and Ontario. You have to give him points as a wanna be American!

**Caveat - I’m a 4th generation Alberta myself, left wing, and I know not every Albertan thinks this way, but it seems there sure are many of them who do!

I’ll make you a deal: All your Albertans pack up and move to Texas, and vice-versa.

I bet the U.S. gets the better bargain out of that.

That would be like dumping a truckload of puffy toy poodles in the middle of Death Valley and then driving away. They’d never make it.

I’d be interested in how well the Texans figure out driving in snow.

History shows the answer is “About as well as you might expect”.

He’s lost the fight at home. May as well fight it somewhere were a large %age agree with him.

I agree with your interpretation of that particular thread, and I was disappointed in Sam in that case. But! We don’t get a lot of the conservative view point on this forum. (Arguably, because they’re ignorant and thus have been fought back, but whatever.) Sam, despite his Canadianism, usually* is a reasonable conservative poster and I generally read his posts with interest, because they show what the other side is thinking, and keep this place from being quite so much of an echo chamber. Even if I think he’s wrong, his posts challenge the way I think. So, good for him.

*not in the thread that the OP linked, obviously

Ranting about liberals in the US whilst enjoying the protections of a liberal government in Canada is a bit like taunting people from behind your mother’s skirt. Try living somewhere where people actually think Obama’s a Muslim and they make you put creation science in textbooks.

That’s what chickenhawkery is really about, no?

-Joe

I reckon. Also, if the US is getting too durn librul, where the hell are you going to go? We pretty much define the right edge of yonder.

Did you just really type the word “percentage” as “%age?”

I hope you get gonorrhea.

Is that sort of a variant on an old joke: All the Albertans moved from Canada to the U.S. and increased the liberality of both places?
