Suffer for it? After 9/11, I remember a lot of “we must rally around the president in these desperate times” and “it would send the wrong message to change leaders right now”. In 2002, Republicans gained a majority in the Senate, and increased their majority in the House. In 2004, George W. Bush was re-elected; the only time Republicans have won the popular vote for president since 1988. So tell me, how did the party in power suffer for letting the hijackers in?
Should something similar happen between now and the 2024 election, I wouldn’t be surprised if the same party, and even the same people, who rallied support for Republicans in 2002 and 2004 use it to attack Biden and Democrats.
I was just reading about the murder-for-hire plot between two Canadian Hells Angels and an Iranian national. Sounds like Canada is a dangerous place, and we should be focused on them, not Hezbollah sneaking in from the south. By my calculations, terrorists are twice as likely to be Canadian as Iranian.
