A simple Chuck question(no major spoilers, please)

My wife and I are Chuck newbies. We just began the second season and have a question.

Is there some kind of reason in the story that the Intercept is always showing(flashing) Chuck images of things that are super local to the Buy More area? Does the intercept have “world wide” info. or just info about bad people/things in Chuck’s area?

Or, is it just to make the show work and they don’t talk about it? I mean, so far, Chuck has never been sent out to China, Russia, or even out of his state to check on people.

Thanks!

Chuck flashes on things that he sees - which are usually things that are in his local area (though I seem to realize that he reacted to photos once in a while).

Early on, they were mostly worried about keeping Chuck out of trouble, but later on, Chuck goes out of area…

Fair warning: trying to impose any sort of logic or continuity on the Intersect is…well, that way lies madness. The way the Intersect works is that it does whatever that week’s plot needs it to do. Trying to make more sense of it than that is utterly futile. And it gets worse as the series goes on.

The intersect has worldwide info, but if Chuck’s going to flash on something in real life rather than a picture, then it has to be something in his vicinity.

Yes, I figured as much. I like the show and have zero problem with something that drives the story. I just wondered if they were going to send him to a suspicious person in Russia and ask him to see if the intercept flashes or not on him.

Remember that he does have a regular job and a regular life, and it’s not that easy to send him abroad, and he’s also still at this point not all that good at handling himself in physical situations - they’re keeping him safe as well as using his skills. They do send him abroad later on.

The Intersect was supposed to be a database of information that both the CIA and NSA already had, but it was faster and more convenient for a person to instantly bring up the info than to Google for it, hence its invention.

It soon became privy to information neither databases had, which didn’t really make sense but was still cool and useful, and then… it develops further. Much excitement awaits you in coming episodes.
