I just have a one question about National Security Advisor Condolezza Rice. She often is referred to as “doctor”. What exactly does she have doctorate in?
She seems intelligent and moderate, in many ways the exact opposite of President Bush. So I wonder why she ever became associated with him. That last part isn’t part of my quetion though;).
She is actually very much behind the foreign policy of Bush. She has long been preaching a foreign policy agenda that amounts to increased isolationism and direct pursuit of U.S. interests without all the altruistic stuff. Pretty much the opposite of Colin Powell who was trained in the old doctrines that encouraged engagement and alliance building.
You could almost make the case that the Bush Doctrine is the Rice Doctrine. She was his foreign policy tutor since the early days of his campaign, and she was an advisor to Bush I.
She is also brilliant. She’s a concert-level pianist, holds a bunch of degrees, was provost at Princeton, and was already working on foreign policy in the White House when she was in her 20’s. A genuine prodigy.
She’s no babe hanging around power. Bush is lucky to have her, and he knows it. Rice has a huge amount of clout in the Administration - there has been a fair bit of speculation about her being the VP candidate in the next election, until Bush came out and said that Cheney would continue.
Holding a bunch of degrees and being at the White House early in life and being a school administrator are not mutually exclusive with intelligence, but neither are they indicators of great intelligence. I’ll call her brilliant when she delivers the goods. Until then, she is a radical and dangerous wanna-be endangering the US of A with her reckless abandonment of our allies in a haphazard pursuit of our least dangerous enemies in the most expensive and ass backward manner possible.
She was a provost at Stanford, I thought(?). And Sparticus, save the lame and uninformed run-ons for the Pit. But while you’re here, what exactly is she pretending to be when you call her a “wanna-be”?
Right. Just as Jimmy Carter’s foreign policy was driven by the quest for peanuts. And Harry Truman instituted the Marshall Plan and the Containment Policy to make the world safe for haberdashery.
