I have a very slight nitpick about the webpage to Cecil Adams’ classic “Did Dracula Really Exist”. This has nothing to do with the column itself. It is the cartoon chosen for it (hence I put it in ATMB).
Yes, yes, I know they both pertain to vampires. But the cartoon clearly shows all the ways you can kill a vampire, thus showing it came from another classic.
As I’ve said, it is a minor thing, if even that. I’m sure there is no reason to change it. But it seemed a good thing to bring to someone’s attention, if nothing else .
You know, upon closer examination I see that the vinegar bottle and cauldron don’t show up in the Dracula one. So apparently they aren’t exactly the same. Still, I do wonder (wonder, is all) why they chose the exact same cartoon…
Many of the older columns originally ran on AOL, where most of the graphic elements were stripped out.
When we moved to our own site and began running these columns again, we’ve had to pull everything back together.
Sometimes we get it right . . . but not always.
I’ll see what I can do about finding the correct graphic for the correct column.
I’m also moving this thread from About This Message Board (where it’s really not appropriate) to Comments on Cecil’s Columns, which is most certainly is.
