Mavi Kocaeli’s video. I don’t know how to post links here. I saw this video on facebook this morning of a little girl acting as an orchestra leader in a choir. I was really impressed as it appeared to be a childs natural reaction to music. Has anyone else seen this?
Is she actually leading the musicians, or is she just waving a baton along with the music?
Isn’t that what they all do? My understanding is that the conductor’s score reads “Wave the stick until the music stops, then bow.”
Seriously though, I think the primary role of the conductor takes place well before the concert, maybe as much as 95% of the job is in practice and preparation.
If it’s the same video I saw, it was absolutely adorable.
Here’s the one I saw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gE9r1LkRCV0
She’s very young (a toddler) and doing it from next to the pews. Seems to have a natural feel for the music and it’s pacing.
Thank you for posting that link, I must have watched this a dozen time now, it just made my day.
I show it to anyone who stops by my office. It’s just wonderful.
