3 yr old conducts Beethoven

This is young Jonathan, a 3yr old conducting Beethoven’s 4th, of 5th Symphony.

The kid is actually pretty good ! He has obviously listened to this piece, knows the music well. Demonstrates real talent for a 3yr old. I also enjoyed reading some of the posted comments, video was originally contributed to this choral site frequented by fair share of top notch conductors.

which hand should I hold the baton in?

So I suppose you think he could conduct a real orchestra?

Ha!

Jonathan now

Wow and double wow. Go Jonathan go!

My dad’s a K-12 music educator. He’ll get a kick out of this for sure!

Also, was that his mom at the end of the 2nd video? Wowzers! I bet the kid will grow up handsome to boot.

Aw, thanks both of you for posting these! It’s stuff like this that makes up a whole lot of my joie de vivre.

I emailed it to myself to watch when I get home. It sounds awesome from the comments there. I just can’t see videos from work. BUT SOON!

As someone who studied conducting for years, I can say that his technique is awesome. Better than mine!

That’s nothing! I once heard of a death row inmate who conducted 50,000 volts.

Here’s another follow up, for anyone who’s interested. How it all happened regarding how young Jon linked up with Misha of the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra.

This link is also of young Jonathan, but should be seen/heard if only for the music. I think it’s Handel, not sure. But the sound is fantastic. Is this Handel’s “Water Music”?

Nevermind, the last link is Bach.

what’s the likelihood that this kid is autistic to some degree?

From the first video he seems like a pretty normal kid who has a talent for the baton. Also from watching a couple of his violin playing videos, didn’t seem too extraordinary.
