A tiny beating heart

So cute! Best wishes to your little bug, hopefully she’ll stop making momma feel so ill soon. In the meantime, get everything ginger you can find for her. Teas, candies, the works. A coworker of mine swore by ginger teas when she had morning sickness her entire pregnancy. They probably have a good selection of things over there in Japan, right?

So happy for you!
Sickness is a good sign, keep offering frequent bland snacks and ginger ale.

Hope this one stays cute and well behaved for a good long while!

I’m so happy for you guys. I’ve lurked through your threads, hoping the best for you. I’m really glad things are going well.

If it’s ok with her doctor, I second ginger for nausea. Ginger pills (just capsules filled with powdered ginger) work wonders for my motion sickness, which is completely different from morning sickness of course, but it might help settle her stomach. You do tend to burp ginger, but in my book it’s better than puking.

Of course, maybe nausea is a good sign. (On preview: irishgirl would know more about it than me, and she agrees!) My mom was puking the entire time with me, (there’s a horrible story involving popcorn) and I arrived 7lbs, three days late, and healthily pissed off.

Woot…that’s some fantastic news! Lookin’ good, little Beta-chan…keep sticking!

Awesome post!! Sending sticky thoughts at you and the Mrs.

I know I drove home from my first ultrasound in a daze…there was a *person * inside me!

She’s sticking good. I was going to suggest Velcro, but I don’t think you’ll need it.

I’m sorry The Wife is so tired, but I’m glad you’re there to help.

Thinking hard about glue, rubber cement, duct tape…

Yeehaw! A beating heart is awesome! Congrats on being well on your way to being a new dad like myself!

At the stage your little one is at, we referred to our young’un as “Peanut”, because that’s basically what size she was and what she looked like. I’m not sure what the Japanese equivalent would be. “Soybean”?

As for the puking, what helped my wife the most was a drug called Reglan, which apparently promotes peristalsis (the muscular contractions that keep food moving in the right direction). Worked well in her case (when she remembered to take it), but I wouldn’t worry about it unless the vomiting gets out of hand or she has trouble keeping weight on.

slypork brings up a good point. Talking to your baby a lot will definitely make your voice a soothing thing after she’s born. When I was pregnant, I read about a certain tribe in Africa who had a tradition that each mother would make up a little song for her baby before it was born and sing it to the child throughout its childhood. It would be the person’s secret song their whole life. So that’s what I did; although I stopped when he got big because the song was shamelessly fuzzy-wuzzy.

Ginger is very good for all kinds of nausea; both morning and motion sickness. You can cut up the root and pour boiling water over it to make tea with a little sugar.

The very best of sticky, good vibes are flying your way for your family. And cherry blossoms, just for the heck of it, and because spring is coming. And spring is good for all young growing things.

severely embarrassing squee noise Look at those little arms and legs!

Stay sticky, Beta-chan!

Someday Beta-chan will say, “Daddy, why is my baby book so thick?”

And you’ll say, “It’s because I printed out all of the Happy Birthday emails your Doper Aunts and Uncles sent.”

Best, Happiest and Stickiest Wishes to you!

Fingers, hell. I’m crossing every appendage I got.

And sticky thoughts, of course.

Or even better, with all the sticky thoughts being sent to Beta-chan…maybe “natto”.
Natto-chan!

And if you add a slug of lemon juice, you get the sharp flavour that lots of people also crave in pregnancy! Yum (good for colds too).

I am, at this very moment, sending the very best sticky thoughts I can muster!

I’m so very happy things are going this well for you!

Awwwww…!

YAY! I’m so happy for you. The pictures made me cry. (It’s post-partum hormones, I swear!)

So cute! I’m still sending sticky thoughts your way, too!

And, looking through the rest of your pictures, my god that kid is going to be so good-looking! Your wife is growing a heart-breaker, I can tell!

Congratulations and best wishes to the newest TokyoPlayer!
