I am really enjoying some YouTube videos that have started to pop up after a small team of creative people have completed an Arctic journey on an Icebreaker ship accompanied by astronaut Chris Hadfield.
Quark Expeditions set up this journey, asking Colonel Hadfield to be their special guest, who waived his fee as long as he could bring along some volunteer creative Internet folks, who would document the adventure in their own way. They travelled from Greenland to Canada over almost three weeks on the ship Kapitan Khlebnikov, negotiating icebergs and whales, recording video clips that explore the technology, science, and sheer stark beauty of the region.
In particular I have loved Ben Brown’s videos here as he flies his camera-quadcopter, Norm Chan’s stories on Tested.com, and now Tom Scott has some videos and tales to share too. There are many other guests on the trip that I am yet to check out, but I’m sure they’re equally as entertaining.
