This is a dream. Trump runs as an independent, spends a significant piece of his worth, (like Forbes), drains enough votes from the opposition (like Nader) and swings an election to the guy they are running against. Trump is such a whore that you have to wonder if the Obama campaign is funding him.
Especially now that his debate has only drawn Newt and Santorum, and he’s considering scrapping it.
This will never happen. Trump is an attention whore, plain and simple. He has no interest in governing.
He also doesn’t have anywhere near the amount of money he pretends to have so self financing is out of the question. There is no way he would ever run if only because of the financial disclosure aspects.

He probably gets 90% of the attention he would get if he did run by keeping the idea afloat that he might run. And he has to spend 0% of the money he would otherwise have to spend. Smart guy.
It does pose a good question. Since both parties are avid free-traders how would a protectionist like Trump do today? Things are much different than they were when Perot ran in 1992. In fact, the 1992 Perot might have a legit chance today.
Fucking hell no. The only thing he is good at is making investors think he is a good idea. He had a couple good land developments in him, and is now the Orson Wells of real estate developers. He spends more time broke and flogging for investors, than he spends rich.
How many times has her personally gone bankrupt, and you think he is a good idea as someone to run our country? Hell Perot would choice because he at least can run a business.
He’s not going to run. He is not interested in any part of being president on even a hypothetical level except for the attention and adulation, and he’s certainly not going to give up his TV show or disclose details about his finances. He only agreed to moderate the debate to sell books, and he’s only stirring up the campaign rumors because he is personally offended that the politicians are blowing him off. He wants to be relevant politically, but he isn’t.
He’s on CNN right now saying that when Libya asked for our help, we should have said “OK, but we want 50% of your oil”. What could possibly go wrong with that? :rolleyes:
