A trypophobe's nightmare meal

Holey moley! How disgusted would you be if this was brought to your table? I saw this in today’s St. Petersburg Times and gasped. Why not just bring me a lotus boob on rye.

Holes don’t bother me, so I think it looks interesting.

Wook - Are you in St. Pete, too?

I am! I tried to post to your thread about us being in the saddest city but it got disappeared. Then I was sad:p

I wouldn’t be disgusted, I would be impressed. I’d have thought that was a piece of art from some famous artist I’d never heard of. I would have nodded approvingly and started clapping.

Looks just kind of like little pretzels, if anything.

I’d eat it, once anyway. After all, it seems to be no more than Italian/Floridian sushi, and there’s nothing there except the lotus root that I haven’t had before.

I’d be disgusted that I’d have to order more food in order to felt like I’d eaten anything at all, lol. Not much there…that’s more of a snack than any kind of meal, and from me that’s saying something, as I can’t eat much at once…I tend to feel full very quickly.

Look at his smug face, laughing as if you were you were actually getting an entire meal!

Ah, but do you have an aversion to holes? My point is not the ingredients of the dish but those god forsaken holey things on the top of it.

Aw, that makes me sad. But maybe we’ll bump into each other some day, most likely not at that restaurant though.

I thought trypophobes were just scared of pits - that there was some instinctual response that there’s a possibility there’s something inside the pit. Those are just holes (possibly the cross-section of a pit), with nothing in them. (Not that I’m saying you didn’t trigger on it - I’m just curious.)

Are trypophobes scared of Swiss cheese?

That dish looks great to me. I love lotus root (it’s crunchy, like water chestnuts) and sashimi.

Looks very pretty to me…not a pear person, but the rest of it sounds good. Nicely presented…

Maybe I’m not actually a trypophobe; heck, I didn’t even know there was a word for it until I read it here and I’m not exactly *afraid *at the sight of them. I just get an extreme feeling of revulsion. And yes, I find Swiss cheese oogy, though to a lesser degree.

I feel the same way after seeing this:

WARNING: Gross, scary and stomach-turning Photoshoppery!!
(sorry, I don’t know how to spoilerbox.)
Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Revulsions count for phobias too. Irrational fear, disgust, or hatred of is what the category requires. I, however, find nothing irrational about the screamie meemies the above pic gives me.

I’m no trypophobe, but that just looks like wagon-wheel pasta (rotelle) or fiore. List of pasta - Wikipedia

Do trypohphobes hate those, too?

If you code really gross stuff, it will appear as really gross stuff.
