Though I know that spare time is short supply for you now, I am really grateful that I took the time during the first few weeks of each of my son’s lives to write out a narrative of their birth. It’s such an intense, important event that you think it will remain crystal clear in your mind forever, but the more minor details wane over time. The wondrousness of it does remain, but since I took the time to capture all of the details on paper while they are still fresh (even the not-so-nice parts), I can bring back the complete memory even now just by re-reading it.
Best wishes, Jkayla, Tygr, and little cub. (Happy one-week birthday!)
Thanks for all the happiness. I read all the wonderful things said here and see how much our cup truly runneth over.
Grandfather Trout, I’m buying you a beer. That’s a fantastic idea.
I honestly didn’t expect everyone to be so concerned. If I’d known… Well, we’re both so very touched by the concern of virtual strangers.
But geez, yall, howzabout makin’ up yer minds a bit?
“Take care of Mrs. Tygr!” or “Why haven’t you posted!?”
I been doin’ the one at the expense of the other. A newborn kidlet and a freshly de-pregger-ized missus both require a bit of attending to. I been pulling double-shifts as chef, groundskeeper, part-time housekeeper, and chauffeur.
I really just haven’t had time to get the films to the developer’s. And tonight I was trying to connect the video camera to the iMac so’s I could p’raps upload some footage, but my USB cable seems to have gone walkabout in the shuffle of baby-preparations.
Jkayla’s best friend stopped by today and dropped off some pictures she let me take with her camera when the cubette was less than one hour old. I’ll scan them in at work tomorrow and try to upload them somewhere.
I can get off my pins and needles now! I’m so glad that everything went (relatively) well, and that you are now the proud owner of a brand new baby girl! They are miraculous, aren’t they? You have no idea how many times this past week I almost picked up the phone to call and say “Well?? Any news??!!” But I decided that you’d let us all know when you could.
:TP dances around her apartment singing happily to herself:
ALLLLLLLLRIIIIIGHT!!!
Congragulations!!! God bless you all. EIGHT FIFTEEN?! Ouch!
Mind you, not quite as “Ouch” as Kid, the Younger who weighed in at 10lbs 2 oz., but still VERY respectable! Now then, could I interest you in a really good deal–Two for one! I’ll trade two teenage boys for that wonderful little girl and even throw in a Super Nintendo. No? But the fifteen year old only eats as much as a SMALL horse! On second thought, I guess I’ll keep 'em. Suddenly, I’m remembering a couple of awfully sweet little babies…I’m sure you understand!
Seriously, I’m so glad everything went well and all concerned are happy, healthy and safe. You know any one of us will be glad to give advice, commisurate over diaper rash colic and colds, and just generally serve as one ENORMOUS extended family. Best wishes, zoogirl.
PS Kid, the Elder is a Chinese calender tiger too!
I’ve already conveyed my Congrats to Tygr and family a week ago. Just thought I’d hop on here and read this thread, and post to it as well.
Awwwww… Your OP was every bit as sweet and gushing as you were on the phone, my friend. I’m very happy, as I told you. And jkayla and tygrcubette are so blessed to have you in their lives. I know you feel the same way about them.
