A very unfortunate photo of Mitt Romney.

Why do you think the girl has such a shocked expression? "My God! The Mormon underwear is alive!"

What the hell… is Mitt having puppies?

Some people need to lighten up. I didn’t post this as a slam at Romney and I did say that it wasn’t his fault. It’s just a funny picture. It could have happened to anybody.

“OMG, they really are on fire!”

Thread win.

It is not about the election.
It is not a Pitting.
It is not a discussion or debate.

Off to MPSIMS.

Ahahaha gave me a chuckle, too

Ew.

Just…ew.

Really? (With Seth and Amy) This is what finally causes y’all to decide the media sucks? Not the stenotyping, not the lack of fact checking, not the kiss ass interviews, not the gotcha questions, but a slightly amusing photo where we really have no idea what happened, but know it is probably innocent? Good work.

Which is explicitly not the break the McCain campaign was looking for.

Judging by the look on her face, I’d say Mittens just scored himself another vote this November.

One has to wonder…how many thousands of photographs did they have to sift through to find one that portrays Romney in a bad way?

Does one? Huh.

Fox News takes this story very seriously. They posted it under their BIAS ALERT banner on the front page.

Did someone in this thread say that this is what caused them to finally decide that the media sucks? Huh… I must have missed that.

Everyone seems to have basically the same attitude as you: it’s a slightly amusing photo that is (no probably about it) innocent.

Oh, and perhaps you could enlighten us on the stenotyping thing. Has there been a scandal involving court reporters (do they even use stenotypes anymore?)

“Magic underwear? Why, no, little girl. I’m not wearing underwear at all. See?”

Okay I am a video guy and I have to put that up front, because one of my concerns about still photography, and always has been, is that it can lack context. I have seen countless still photos of people and events that in an instant may seem to show one thing, but if they were to be viewed as video (in action) are clearly something else.

It’s to the point that I pretty much dismiss any odd looking still as an anomaly immediately.

Does anyone remember the bruhaha about a photo showing the French president and Obama looking at a lady’s butt on some stairs? Video of the same moment clearly showed they were not doing so, but the still appeared so damning.

So whatever happened at the time this photo above was taken, I am sure the reality does not match the illusion.

Read Leaffan’s comment again.

He’s giving birth to Republican policy.

He didn’t say that this is what finally caused him to decide that the media sucks. In fact, as I read his statement it doesn’t seem to be a trashing of the media in general at all, just of this particular incident.

In any case, people need to loosen up. We all understand that it’s a moment frozen in time that doesn’t actually reflect any reality. That’s why it’s referred to as “unfortunate”. Nobody here believes that he’s some sort of pervert showing off something he shouldn’t to some children.

It’s just funny. It would be funny if it was Obama.

Who knew this board had a bunch of bluenoses?
