A village with over 200 twins..

Story from Kerala,India…

Wow. I wonder if it’s something environmental encouraging double ovulation – I’m assuming they’re mostly dizygotic pairs.

Dr. Mengele, I presume.

In India?

The Boys from Calcutta!

They’re breeding a race of Atomic Supermen to take over the world!

The year my sisters were born, 1981, there were four other sets of twins born in the tiny town where we grew up. Later, they moved to a larger city, and in their all-girls high school there were something like 10 sets. I always thought that was very unusual! I only knew two sets of twins, total, growing up.

Another unusual thing about them – I keep meeting or hearing of people with the same birthday they have, Feb. 6. The year they were born Ronald Reagan was in office and Feb. 6 was his birthday too.

We had 6 sets of twins in my graduating class. I thought that was weird too. I did look it up one time and was surprised to see that the total percentage of twins born in 1979 was only slightly lower than the total percentage of twins in our class.

My boyfriend is a twin…born on Feb 6. That is weird…

Oh nice, you have a spare in case the first one breaks!

Kinda related in a round about way.

A woman who is one of a set of triplets, just gave birth to triplets the other day in Detroit.

I am wondering if her sister’s will end up with triplets as well. The hat trick squared ( or something.)

I’d want to see an article from a Western paper that had personally investigated this. Otherwise I suspect that someone picked up on the Mengele urban legend and moved it to India.

They could all be related (even if distantly), which would be completely unsurprising in a small, fairly remote town. Dizygotic twins do run in families.
