I don’t remember all the details now but a few years ago for about 30 minutes my hearing seem to become extra acute. I was driving down the same street I have for years and noticed I was hearing birds chirping, and the breeze blowing through the trees. I had never been able to hear thse things before when driving. I was home within a few minutes and sat out on my patio and noticed all the sounds that are usually just faintly audible were now comming in very loud and clear. Primarily higher pitched sounds. It didn’t last long and I haven’t experiened it since. Has anyone else ever experiened this.
It’s happened to me but in my case I’ve been able to chalk it up to some daily white noise that I seem to never notice but when it’s missing is really noticeable.
For example our building has an incredible amount of white noise that seems to mask everything. From the buzzing of the flourescent bulbs to the HVAC system. But when we have a power outage here I can hear people talking all the way at the other end of the hall down in the cafeteria.
My brother had a similar experience when they were doing road construction a half mile from his home. The freeway was completely shut down for a week or so.
During that time he could hear all kinds of new stuff around the neighborhood.
Once the freeway opened again the constant unnoticeable sound from it masked everything.
It happens to me a lot, but it has to do with my sinuses.
