A Weird Tingling Numb Feeling in My Legs? A medical Question.

Ok some history. I don’t know if ya’ll all know but I have had a kidney stone from Hell that has interupted my life with severe pain, grossness and disconfort for about two months now.

Well it finally came out two weeks ago Friday but they put a stint in for a few days. After the stint came out(which was very weird feeling when they yank it through your “thing” ya know), I felt great FOR ONE DAY. Then the next morning I had blood in my urine with blood clots. Well I guess one of those suckers(blood clots) plugged up the ole pee hole which blew up my bladder like a balloon that was ready to po! Next thing I know my wife is rushing me to the doctors office.

You are not going to believe what happened next. They stuck a thick rubber hose in my pee hole that was about a foot long(at least they greased up but it didn’t help). I already was in severe pain. My bladder is suppose to hold around 40 to 50 cc’s of urine and now was inflated to 800 cc’s because of the blockage. And now they want to stick that rubber hose that was as big as a Big Gulp straw in my thing causing me more pain(without anethesia)? I WAS FREAKIN OUT to say the least!

Well when they did that it felt like Jason(the hockey face killer dude) was sticking a ice pick up in there. But then I got relief when it finally reached my bladder and let the stock pile of urine come out. Well so then I went home carrying a piss bag around on my leg for 5 days(I never left the house to embarrassed ya know).

Now to my question that first night after they tortured me with that cafiter(I don’t even care if I misspelled that torture chamber device)my thighs started getting numb and tingly like when your foot falls asleep. And that feeling hasn’t stopped even thought the cafiter is out of me?

Why do you think my legs are doing this?

Some people say my nerves have been through the ringer others said that maybe some blood clots are restricting blood to my thighs. Otherssay that I have laid up so long my legs are just asleep. I am just very concerned about this with all I have been through. I just don’t want my legs to fall off now.

Could anybody please help and tell me what is wrong with my legs(thighs numb and tingling) now?

THANKS in advance!

Call your doctor. Now.

Dude, from the title of your thread i was gonna say it was sciatica, which I have, but you’ve got something else going on completely.

get to a doctor, hope you feel better.

  1. The hollow tube is a catheter.

  2. There’s no direct connection between the urinary tract and the nerves that brings sensory information from your thighs to your spinal cord, so it’s hard to see a direct cause/effect relationship.

  3. Is this where I’m supposed to say hi to Opal?

  4. The numb tingly “asleep” sensation indicates that the nerves to the region ARE working (or there’s be NO sensation) but not working right. The medical term for these is paresthesias. Your doctor will want to know which area of your thigh(s) is affected; this will help him figure out where the potential problem is.

  5. Any direct cause/effect relationship would mostly hinge upon there being a fairly serious complication to your urologic procedures, such as damage to a blood vessel near the ureter with the stone in it, or a mass of clotted blood outside a blood vessel pressing upon it or a nearby nerve. You should definitely contact your urologist as soon as possible to let him know what is happening to you.

  6. A more indirect cause/effect relationship could be hypothesized on the basis of your having an abnormal posture due to pain or having a bag strapped to your leg, and increased pressure on nerve roots as they exit your spine. I’m sure you’ve already considered that the bag may been strapped too tightly to your leg, although this should resolve once the bag was removed.

Bottom line - due to the timing, I would first talk to the Urologist. He’s the expert in the anatomy of that region & will be very familiar with any potential complications that might have occurred that would explain your symptoms. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, then check in with a primary care doctor (internist, family prctice), or your HMO.

Another County Heard From,

Thank you dude or girl(can’t tell gender from name). You sound like a pretty smart person. I will take your advice to see my Urologist again and if he can’t help me I’ll try my family doctor. Thanks once again for you help!

And don’t worry about the disclaimer. If you would have seen my loser should pay thread, you would understand how I feel about the legal system.
