A Zelda-like game for PS2

I’m looking for suggestions for a Zelda-like game for a PS2. By this, I mean a game that involves wandering around trying to figure out puzzles and occassionally killing things.

I’d appreciate any suggestions.

There’s this game called Dark Cloud which looks to be a total knock-off of Zelda. I haven’t played it but it sounds similar.

yes!

dark cloud!

I loved it. part two is coming out.

Also, if you are sucky at games, I kinda enjoyed the Harry Potter games. The second one is kinda dull in that it has insane loading times. move out of the scene, load. move out of a scene. load. feh!

How about Eternal Ring?

GTA Vice City is cool, you take peoples cars instead of their clothes but you get new clothes in the game & walk around trying to figure out puzzles and occassionally killing things.

Kingdom Hearts? It’s very fun. Though it seems like a remarkably stupid idea (a Disney/Squaresoft crossover!?) it turned out very well. It’s not what I’d call a kids game either;the difficulty level seems too high for young children.

I have Dark Cloud, but it was kinda boring, I thought. Hmm. I haven’t played Ico, but it was supposed to be good.

And there’s always the Spyro games. They are basically 3D platformers but oh so amusing! In that same vein, Jak & Daxter is also very high quality.

Dark Cloud is one of those games where it looked so cool for the first half hour of playing, but dropped off after that. When I first played it I thought “Finally! They’ve nailed down Zelda for the PS2.” But it got really repetitive – a lot of levelling up your weapons, and (ugh) randomly generated dungeon floors. Plus you never actually travel anywhere – you just select the area to go to and the game switches you to that area. It really took away from the quest feel it should have had.

Jak and Daxter absolutely kicks ass though. It’s billed as a platformer, but it’s a great mix of platform-type action and Zelda-type quests. The graphics are outstanding too. Plus it’s a Greatest Hit now, so it can be had for $19.99. I highly recommend it.
