AAA (American Automobile Association) question

I’ve been out of the U.S. for over seven years now, and I’m curious - does AAA still provide TripTiks? I would think that with the advent of the internet, Waze, and Google maps, the TripTiks might have been phased out. We used to get them all the time when we’d travel; now, I don’t see them as relevant anymore.

They do, but they’re basically just printed out Mapquest maps. They still have the guide books, which are nice to have, though.

They also have good state-wide and city maps. It’s nice to have a map of a remote city to look at before the trip, and they can be hard to obtain otherwise.

You can print their on-line maps but a four-hour trip will probably print to about 20 or 30 pages, one per each 50 miles and for each exit, which makes them really unwieldly. They’re nice to look at ahead of time for road construction, especially useful if you’re crossing several states and don’t want to traipse through each state’s highway’s department web sites to find the same information.

They will put them in the “flip book” format they always used though which can be a help on some longer drives.
