All is well here, except for some trees, but not any trees around where I live. Even though the center went pretty much right over us, by the time it got here, it’d weakened a lot. We really needed the rain.
good heavens, ybeaye. i’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother’s friend. that was a horrific accident.
may her memory be eternal.
I live a few miles north of the mandatory and recommended evacuation areas.
We boarded up and hunkered down and did not leave. Our neighborhood had some downed trees and wooden fences as well as a least one brick fence. Lots of downed traffic signals. We lost power about 11 p.m. Friday night and still don’t have power at home now. Last time I called they said they might work on it today, but not to expect power until Thursday. They told a neighbor they are working on it today. So, who knows? It’s been a sultry, steamy hot weekend and I am sick to death of coldcuts, chips and water, but we’ve certainly not suffered the devastation the folks from LA have. I’m grateful we just lost a few branches and bushes.
(I’m posting from work in downtown houston about 20 miles south of where I live.)
