So a friend needs me to do the design for a pub he´s about to open, he wants to use a specific font for the texts, sends it to me and I get a pair of files XYZ___.PFB and XYZ___.PFM
I have no clue how to turn that into TTF fonts, it´s so frustrating. What do I have to do?
P.S. I´m running Windows 98 SE if that´s necessary to know
Those are postscript fonts (you need both files for onscreen viewing), and they are superior to truetype. You don’t need to convert them; just install (free) Adobe Type Manager Lite from Adobe’s site. Windows 2000 and XP can use postscript fonts without ATM Lite.
If you insist on converting them anyway, there are several programs that can do this - Fontlab and Fontographer being the most robust. But they cost money, and can be intimidating to use. There may be a free conversion program out there, check cnet or tucows.
