Rodgers blows past cancer patient like she isn’t there. He could have at least nodded at her and acknowledged her existence even if he didn’t want to sign an autograph. What a douchebag.
Clay Matthews showed a lot of class at least.

Go take a nap.
The station has taken the video down. They must have gotten some heat from the Packers.
It’s still working. Click on the one below the main window; Fans Send Off Packers at the Airport.
Eh, maybe he was thinking about his mortgage or the sudoku he was doing on the plane. I walk around ignoring people all the time, and I’m sure if I was a sports star who had random people approaching me all the time I’d be even better at it.
The OP made me think he pushed her out of the way or something, but in the video he’s obviously just trying to get someplace and not paying attention. I doubt he even registered her enough to put together that she was a cancer patient.
According to Clay Matthews, they had been told about her on the plane.
And Aaron is STILL in the playoffs and the Vikings still aren’t.
To use your favorite phrase, “Man up” and get over it. There’s always next year. Nobody likes a whiner.
Well, he does play on offense.
I didn’t read the article, but the clip is on youtube. All Clay said was “They mentioned you.” He certainly didn’t imply that there was an announcement and that she was specifically waiting for her. For all we can tell, someone mention to Clay that she was out there waiting for Aaron, maybe no one told Aaron.
As for Aaron, as other said, he didn’t even appear to notice her. Note the headphones (earplugs?) even if she said something, he probably didn’t hear her.
I’m also kind of annoyed at the title of the article “Aaron Rodgers has a lot to learn about where his money comes from” Her. Yup, it all comes from her. I guess, he’ll have to sell his house now, right. BTW, I don’t follow football, does Aaron, typically ignore people wanting autographs? I live in Wisconsin and from the blurbs I hear on the news, he seems like a nice guy. ISTM the ass here is the person who wrote the article. I’m sure Aaron signs a ton of autographs. He missed one and you tear him apart for that? I think what the author is more pissed off about is sitting at the airport for an hour waiting for the plane to come in and for Aaron to sign her hat and then losing the story.
Aaron Rodgers should have been nicer to that lady with cancer. Now he is a bad person, a terrible quarterback, and nobody is going to watch football anymore.
Yea, having earphones in is kinda a universal signal for “not looking to engage in conversation right now”.
That’s naive. Rodgers had his head phones in specifically because he wanted to ignore the fans and walk through the airport undisturbed. This is a classic celebrity gimmick. Watch TMZ and every celeb will leave the bar/restaurant and have their cell phone plastered to their ear mocking a fake phone conversation. Most urban city dwellers use the same tactic with cellphones and headphones to ignore aggressive panhandlers and sales people.
That said, I don’t think Rodgers has an obligation to sign autographs every time but hopefully he does it regularly. If that’s the case and he prefers not to do it before or after games in the airport that’s fine, taking one example out of context is pretty unfair.
Rodgers does come off as a petulant little bitch in this video though. The lady is obviously ill is being patient and polite. She was largely alone and signing something wouldn’t have led to his being mobbed. Better in an airport than interrupting your dinner or something I’d suspect. Rodgers does plow through and not even acknowledge her existence, very much like she was a smelly aggressive panhandler, when a wave and a polite decline would have been more mature.
He didn’t rape anyone, send anyone a picture of his dick or engage in dog fighting, so he’s still a class act as far as football players go.
In which case, he’s probably kicking himself because the 1 out of 10 times he felt like blowing of the autograph crowd and just getting to his destination there happened to be cameras there. OTOH, there’s probably cameras nearly everywhere he goes. This is just one of the times he got stuck with a reporter that would rather write a pissy story then moving on to the next thing.
Maybe it’s the exception, maybe it’s the rule. We’ll likely never know since Green Bay isn’t the most intense new media town out there so this story probably won’t have any legs. Still, he had to know there was a camera there and the lady looked like a cancer patient. Obviously Clay Matthews got word, probably from Packers PR who got wind of the TV stations story angle, and Rodgers decided to disregard it.
Maybe he had a good reason, maybe he’s just a prima donna. Who knows. No matter what he should have realized how it would look, especially when he power walked within millimeters of of her.
I actually was going to post about the work Rodgers does with the MACC fund, how he keeps some of his charitable work quiet, and how he conducts himself a majority of the time.
But, really, whats the point? Rodgers should have signed for her, and I’m guessing he’ll make it right for missing her this time. But damn those grapes must be pretty sour…
Matthews apparently has said he was told by a stewardess not a PR person, so I have no clue whether or not Rodgers knew or disregarded it. Neither do you.
I’m assuming that if she told Matthews, she told Rodgers.
I’m not even saying that Rodgers was obligated to sign anything, I just wish he’d at least said hi to her or something, made eye contact, smiled at her, something, anything, to acknowledge her existence.
He’s not the only pro athlete who does that crap, but he’s the face of a very high profile team and he didn’t make himself look very good (unlike Clay Matthews, who made himself look likeable even to a Packer hater like me).
I’m sure Aaron Rodgers doesn’t hate ALL cancer patients. Just that one.
Seems the author of the linked article thought the Rick Riley article about Jay Cutler was unnecessary and mean spirited, and I tend to agree. Why devote an entire article to describing how Cutler, who hasn’t really done anything wrong, is reserved and not terribly charismatic? That said, the linked article (to say nothing of the OP) is equally petty and a really lame attempt at some sort of reciprocation. What the hell is the point, other than a lazy way to file some copy?
