Why fans get what they deserve: Kenny Rogers gets support from fans

The prick attacked cameramen, and the fans cheer him for it?

20 games were too few. He should miss the rest of the season and he should be charged with aggravated assault. And yet he gets cheers. Wow.

There are some people, who, for no known reason, will latch onto a celebrity like they were getting pid for it. Apparently this makes them feel good.

He’s an idiot as are his admirers. They deserve each other.

I hope the camera guy sues his sorry ass.

Charles Manson would get cheers in Arlington if he had a 2.54 ERA.

Coward of the County wasn’t too bad, as ballads go, but he lost me with Islands in the Stream.

Some people can sing a Bee Gees song, some can’t.

I was about to say…

Some people don’t know when the hold them, know when to fold them, know when to walk away, know when to run…

Who the heck is Kenny Rogers? Wasn’t that the name of an obese stereotypical country western singer in MadTV?

Yes. And a current MLB player whose parents must have hated kids.*

  • as evidenced by both his name and his 'tude.

Whether it’s sports, movies, TV music, whatever. People like this act like bastards only because star power and blind adulation lets them get away with it. What I wanna know is, how come they never try their nonsense on someone who can give it right back to them. It’s like they consciously choose easy targets.

All of you heartless fiends can bite me. Kenny Rogers was one of the best damn pediatricians the University of Pittsburgh ever saw, and he is sorely missed. I won’t hear a word spoken against him.

I have always been a fan of the original and the best.

I have no idea who the guy is you’re all talking about, and what he did to deserve such scorn. It’s all been talked about like we’re already supposed to know.

Not even the Bee Gees can do a tolerable job on them. Though Lonely Days wasn’t bad.

Maybe Kenny Rogers’ “fan support” is similar to that a piled-on Doper cites when one lone poster agrees with him. We’ll see how many cheers Kenny gets when he takes the mound.

Let his ERA go above 5.00, and that fan support will melt like ice in the Texas sun. To me, he’s just another journeyman pitcher who couldn’t cut it in New York. His 20 game suspension is a joke, it should have been the rest of the season.

Did that prick have to pay for the camera?

I’m sure that’ll come up in the lawsuit.

Well, here’s the way I heard it from the local news over the last week or so:

  1. After the shoving incident, fans booed Rogers when he next appeared on the field.
  2. Rogers issued his public apology (such as it was).
  3. The next game (also being the most recent game), fans cheered him when he appeared on the field.
  4. Rogers then proceeded to throw a stinker of a game and the fans booed him again.
  5. But Rogers pulled it out in the end and the Rangers won, and fans cheered him again.

Bah. It’s basically SAST (Short Attention Span Theater), ya know?

Dude, he’s in his 40s, has close to 200 wins, 1700 strike outs and a perfect game. Call him what you like, but journeyman isn’t a good descriptor.

I’m a bit biased as a Yankee fan. There he couldn’t hit the ocean if he threw from the wharf. He was about as worthless a Yankee as Don Gullett was in the 1970s.

He’s never won 20 games; he’s never led the league in anything meaningful. Journeyman is an extremely apt description.
