Abel Ferrara Wishes Hellish, Explosive Death on Werner Herzog and Nicolas Cage

For remaking his Bad Lieutenant (1992). Story here.

And here, Herzog asks: “Who is Abel Ferrara”? And says it’s NOT a remake.

Herzog sounds like a total dick.

Herzog is entirely insane, and one of the greatest artists who ever lived.

I like Herzog’s films myself, but after his Rescue Dawn appeared here just a few months ago (a couple of years late), a local newspaper ran an angry Letter to the Editor from the brother of Gene, the POW portrayed by Jeremy Davies, saying despite meeting with Herzog beforehand, he completely distorted Gene’s actions and behavior. (Since Gene disappeared and was never heard from again, I’m not sure how anyone could have known that.)

What? Abel Ferrara says about the brilliant Werner Herzog “But I wish these people die in Hell. I hope they’re all in the same streetcar, and it blows up”! And Herzog’s the dick just because he doesn’t know who Ferrara, a very obscure American director, is??? Ferrara damn sure knows who Herzog is and still put a death wish on him. Fuck Ferrara.

Anyway, Herzog’s talented enough to get away with being a dick, if he were one, which I don’t think he is.

No one is talented enough to getting away with being a dick ( morally, anyway - practically the world often works out that way ). I have a pretty firm philosophical stance on that issue :). Werner’s pet actor Klaus Kinski gets no pass for his epic performances - he was still an egomaniacal scumbag.

It does sound like Ferrara is a bit dickish as well, but I would hope he was being a little hyperbolic.

What did Don Siegel say about Body Snatchers ?

Hah!

Well, nothing I’m sure, insomuch as he was dead by then. But a fine touche, nonetheless :p.

Herzog is the greatest living film director, if not greatest living creator. “Who is this Abel Ferrara?” is a classic Herzog moment in a lifetime of classic moments.
