About my bank

Well, I’m not as annoyed as I was five minutes ago, otherwise it’d be in the Pit. But anyway, the principle and all that:

I’m starting a business. I go to open a business cheque account at a bank (Australians will know Which Bank). I give them the Business Name Registration extract I paid $10 for, because the registration office told me I’d need it to open an account. But the bank won’t open an account because I also need the original certificate, which is sitting at home because I didn’t think I needed it.

Fine, they want the certificate. But then why do they need the extract AS WELL? They both lay out the same information. And if the bank thinks the extract can be faked (assuming someone gets their hands on or creates the letterhead and the bank doesn’t bother to verify it with the registration office), why even ask for it?

It’s like of those things - you know, those things, when policies get overtaken by technology (I’m sure there’s a word for it). They used to just accept the extract but then they realised they could be faked so they ask for the certificate as well, and didn’t bother to think that they don’t need the extract anymore.

Sigh.

has your bank given out false earning statements? it seems mine may have.

no wonder they charge huge fees for every service they have.

then again perhaps it is the new headquarters the bank built a few years ago.

banks, can’t do business with them, can’t do business without them.
