About suicide bombers. Am I making this up?

Actually, I always pictured them as beating the dead terrorists senseless while screaming things like “What did you expect when you’re outnumbered seventy-two to one !”

Sort of Allah’s little joke on them.

I think Allah’s little joke on them is eternal silence and a total lack of virgins, not to mention absence of consciousness.

No, the terrorist attack on 9/11 was technically a pinprick.
The reaction by the powers that be in the US is what is poisoning the US and what is killing it.

Yes, but wasn’t that the idea? The US is famous for being overly sensitive to casualties. They knew the reaction was going to be extreme and crippling. They meant it to have the effects it had.

In the end, terrorism is about changing policy through fear. They knew it would take a brazillion night clubs blown up in Europe or Asia to get a reaction from the US. Or a single strike in the US, which is what they ended up doing.

This is exactly what modern weapons are supposed to do. Instead of blanket bombing an entire city, we now send a single missile that hits exactly where it is needed. We are proud of that, and work hard to get better at it. This is what they did. A precision strike to get maximum results from minimum effort.

It sucks to be beaten at one’s game, but we were.

The use of the word martyr is much more than just suicide bombers. News from the middle east is on Link network. When reporters talk about how many people were killed in the war today they will say 266 Iraqis were martyred today. It is in wider use.
