About that torpedoed Iranian warship

Forget it, he’s rolling.

Thank you for showing me who you are.

I’m actually a little older than you. Still never played Minesweeper.

Maybe that’s why. I’ve been a Mac user since the 1980s. I’ve only used Windows computers at work.

You’ve probably also been denied the sublime joy that is SkiFree.

Yup. I did play Tetris, Netrek, and Crystal Quest on Macs back in the ‘80s, though.

Did you ever play Dark Castle? That was one of my favorites in the 80s.

(I was a Mac user going back to the 128K, and later supported them professionally around the time OS X first came out.)

A blast from the past.

I would agree, but they’re still acts of war, and an American submarine commander may legally take further acts of war in accordance with the conventions of war.

You hear about the remake that came out last week?

I just found out yeah. I’m not sure how different it is from the original, but it’s interesting.

What war? There’s no war here. Congress has not declared a war. This is an executive branch running amok with a Department of Defense War Secretary with the mindset of a twelve-year old.

Has anyone changed their mind as to whether torpedoing the ship was a war crime?

Wars are almost never declared anymore. About the only way we’ll see war declared is if Iran does it themselves.

The oddities of US law do not change what a “war” is. The rest of the world is not obliged to follow the definitions used by you and 4% of the world.

In accordance with international law, the English language, and common fucking sense, this is a war.

So, “We’re big and can do whatever the hell we want.” Got it. Ever wonder why an increasingly larger, major portion of the world loathes us?

Who is suggesting that?

What do you mean by who? Who is suggesting “We’re big and can do whatever the hell we want” or who is suggesting that an increasingly larger, major portion of the world loathes us? (Where “us” is the USA).
Ah, you meant both? Yep, that is so.

Nothing new in that article, just a summary of known facts already discussed here. Including the fact that the USA can do whatever it wants (and in this case it was even legal) and the RoW is getting miffed at you. (Where “you” is also the USA.)

Well he was replying to ME, so it seems it was being claimed I’M saying it, which I’m not.

Is it OK to sink a boat, kill people and then kill the survivors clinging onto the wreckage?

We did that. The USA. Let that sink in.

I’m hoping all of us here at the SDMB will agree that such an action is definitely not okay.
