I’ve always wondered about Camoens…probably the most famous Portuguese poet of his day, yet little known in the English-speaking world. Can anyone recommend a good translation? Is such a massive epic best taken in stages?
Also, for all you portuguese/brazilian dopers: is Camoens much read today? Are his plays still performed?
The man had a fascinating life…are there good biographies available?
