AC/DC boxset--Bonfire

I got the boxset for Christmas and I love it. However, I am curious as to why they didn’t include the song Who Made Who. Does anyone else have it?

Also, there are two DVDs included that are labeled, “Let there be Rock: The Movie.” I put them in last night and they are evidently audio DVDs. No movie came up. Are my DVDs messed up or is this how they are supposed to be?

And any AC/DC commentary is also welcome in this thread. \m/

All I can say is that I have been very curious about the box set simply because I think that Bon-era stuff is the best. Great songs, great sounds - the whole bit.

I would love to hear what other folk think of this set…

“Who Made Who” is not Bon Scott Era. I am pretty sure that “Let there be Rock: The Movie” is a cd, the soundtrack from the movie. It is pretty Rockin. Bon Rules.

Live at Atlantic Studios is unquestionably one of the best live rock albums of all time.

Yeah, I know that, but the boxset isn’t entirely Bon Scott stuff. I guess it’s kind of strange, but Back in Black is on it and the booklet includes the whole story of the band, including the Brian Johnson era.

Overall, I give the boxset a thumbs up, but I would have liked to had Who Made Who on it and I think the booklet could have been a little more thorough.

My understanding of Back in Black is that Bon was around for much of the writing, just not the recording. Of course, I could be oh so wrong.

Now, for the $2000 Jeopardy Answer:

“He was the first singer in AC/DC, before the band’s chaffeur volunteered to take the mic one evening.”

The Question

This has been the rumor practically since 1980. Friends of Scott claim that they saw notes written by him shortly before his death containing lyrics that ended up on Back In Black. OTOH, I find it hard to believe that the Youngs would do something that crass.

I got this set when it was first released in 1997, when they didn’t have DVD audio CDs. I notice that the box it comes in now is slightly smaller. Does it still have the bottle opener keychain in it? And did they fix the credits on the Paris CD? Mine says that Mark Evans is on bass. In 1979? I don’t think so.

I guess the only slight disappointment was with the Volts CD. Why are “It’s A Long Way To The Top” and “Ride On” on here? We already have those versions. Where’s “Crabsody In Blue”, “Rock In Peace”, “Carry Me Home”, and “Cold Hearted Man”? I really shouldn’t complain, since they were kind enough to include the Holy Grail (Live At The Atlantic Studios).

BTW, if you let Volts play to the end, you can hear segments of interviews with Bon at the end of “Ride On”, at about the 6:16 mark.

I sure hope that they are in fact working on releasing the Let There Be Rock movie on DVD, but really I’m happy to have it on CD. Blows away If You Want Blood…

This Box set is one of my prized posessions. I have the “Let there be Rock: The Movie Live in Paris” here in my office and I see nothing to indicate that it’s a dvd. I also have the AC/DC bottle opener on my keychain and I’m still waiting for the right occasion to use the temporary tattoo.

I agree with Harvey that they should have had more rare stuff on the Volts CD. I love the version of School Days and the pre Rosie, “Dirty Eyes”. Those interviews with Bon Scott are so sad, hearing how worn out his voice was and knowing that he died not too long after.
